What the specs really mean
The labels can mislead. Usually "recommended" means "the game looks good". Here NC writes plainly that the recommended PC (RTX 2070, 16 GB RAM) is meant for the Low preset at Full HD (1920×1080). The minimum PC is meant for Very Low.
In practice:
- Minimum = the game will run, but on the lowest graphics.
- Recommended = comfortable play on low settings, not on high.
- Medium or high settings need hardware above the recommended spec. NC doesn't publish a "high" tier, so we won't guess one.
The game uses DirectX 12 only, and the OS has to be 64-bit. Windows 7 and 8 aren't on the list.
How much disk space does Aion 2 need?
100 GB of free space — both specs say the same. That's the space the install needs, not the exact download size; NC doesn't give a separate download figure (ExpCarry).
NC recommends an SSD in both specs, so a hard drive (HDD) is officially a step below what the game expects.
Will Aion 2 run on a low-end PC?
Check your parts against the minimum spec. The quickest way: press Win + R, type dxdiag and look at the "Display" tab (graphics card) and "System" tab (processor, memory).
| Part | Fine | Risky |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics card | GTX 1050 Ti / RX 470 or newer, 4 GB of video memory or more | older or weaker cards, 2–3 GB of video memory |
| Memory | 16 GB | 8 GB is the bare minimum; close the browser while playing |
| Disk | SSD, 100 GB free | hard drive (HDD) — below NC's recommendation |
| System | Windows 10/11, 64-bit | 32-bit Windows won't run it |
If your PC is below the minimum, the game may still start, but NC promises nothing. Laptops with integrated graphics aren't mentioned in the requirements at all.
The good news: Aion 2 is free to play (NC, Launch FAQ), so the cheapest test is to install it and try it on Very Low. Then raise options one by one — which ones cost the most frame rate is in our best settings guide.
A stronger PC won't fix lag caused by distance to the server. If your skills fire late, that's ping, not hardware — see best class for high ping and which server to pick.
Steam Deck, Mac, Linux and controllers
| Platform | Officially | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Deck | not supported — NC supports only Windows PCs; Valve hasn't rated the game (no "Verified" or "Playable" badge as of Oct 9) | players report it runs on low settings with a custom control layout (Reddit, Oct 2 and Oct 6) |
| Linux | not supported (same FAQ answer) | — |
| Mac | no macOS version — Steam lists Windows only | — |
| Controller | the game director said at gamescom (Sep 7) that controllers are supported; NC's Launch FAQ (Sep 30) says the game "is playable with a controller" but not officially supported | works, but NC support won't help with it |
| Phone | no mobile version — the global release is on Steam and PURPLE only | — |
"Not officially supported" means one thing in practice: if something breaks on these platforms, NC support doesn't have to fix it.
FAQ
Are the requirements different on Steam and PURPLE? NC publishes one set of specs. The game is the same on both launchers, and players share the same servers (Launch FAQ).
Is 8 GB of RAM enough? That's the official minimum, so the game should start. 16 GB is what NC recommends — with 8 GB, close the browser and other programs while playing.
Will a better PC lower my ping? No. Ping depends on the distance to the server and your connection, not on your hardware.
Do I need a 64-bit system? Yes. Both specs say "requires a 64-bit processor and operating system".
