Step 1: pick your region
At first launch the game asks for region, then faction, then server (NC, Oct 4). Global regions and server counts (official list, Oct 6):

There's no Oceania or Southeast Asia region — players there go to Asia (Japan) or NA West (Massively OP, timesaver.gg). The closer the region, the lower your ping, which matters more in Aion 2 than in most MMOs: see best class for high ping.
Watch out: names like Siel, Vaizel or Kaisinel exist in every region. EU Siel is not NA Siel — double-check the region with your friends.
Step 2: Early Access or launch server?
Every region has two groups. Advanced Access servers opened on Sep 30 for Founder's Pack buyers, so their players are 5 days ahead. Launch servers opened on Oct 5, when the game went free-to-play, and everyone there started together.

Trade-off: Early Access servers are busier, but people are ahead of you and the market is pricier. On a launch server everyone started Oct 5, and your PvP opponents are just as fresh.
EU server list and pairs
One server is always one faction; a pair is the two servers that meet in PvP (more on factions). Pairs per NC (Oct 4) and Game8 (Oct 5) — NC reshuffles them over time to balance the sides.

Which server should you pick?
- Friends already playing → their region, faction and server. Nothing else matters as much.
- You want crowds and streamers → the Siel / Israphel pair, where big creators gathered (Mein-MMO). Expect queues.
- You want a level start → any launch server. When queues hit, NC asks players to pick a server marked as recommended.
- You want a language community → NC doesn't split EU servers by language, so ask in your community's Discord; guilds often vote on a server.
A Founder's Pack doesn't lock you to a server: its cosmetics will be usable on every character on the account, on every server (NC, Oct 3 — rolling out after Early Access, no exact date yet).
Server transfers from October 14
- Starting October 14 (NC, Sep 30). Mein-MMO says "by Oct 13 at the latest" — likely a time-zone difference; go by NC's notice.
- Same faction only — you can't move from Elyos to Asmodian.
- Free at first.
- Early Access characters can only move between Early Access servers. Whether a launch-server character can move onto an Early Access server, NC hasn't said — we'll check after Oct 14.
- How long the free period lasts and what it costs afterwards — not announced yet.
