Gladiator Guide & Build (Aion 2)

Weapon: greatsword · Role: melee fighter who hits hard and takes a lot of punishment

Everything for the Gladiator from level 1 to the endgame: what to max, how to set up your skill bar, what not to miss in the campaign, gear, your first dungeon and a plan for after 45. The Gladiator is easy to play, gets by solo without potions, and in a group without a Templar it's the one holding the boss. Collected from several guides and videos. Where sources disagree, I say so openly.

12

Set your level and you will see below what to do right now. The page remembers it in this browser.

Skill points

  • Daevanion: Overhead Slam → Rending Blow → Ruinous Blow (Daevanion tab)
  • Core: keep raising Overhead Slam and Rending Blow as far as the game allows

Watch out / what to do

  • You can skip Aerial Snare (optional, for bosses)
  • From 13: Sealed Dungeons and strongholds give crystals

Next milestone: level 14

  • Ruinous Blow: +20% damage for 20 s

Where to put your next point

Enter your skill levels from the in-game skill window. The page calculates for the character level set above and remembers your entries in this browser.

Skill bar for level 12

Arrange your skills like this in the skill window. Row 0 is the row right at the bar and has the highest priority. A filler with no cooldown always goes at the top of its column (Lipej).

Change at 10: On 1 in row 1 you add Rush Strike. It fires after a dodge (Shift).

Next change at 14: On E you add Ruinous Blow. Press it as soon as it's ready.

Ankle Slice (PvP) and Aerial Snare stay off the bar. If you take Aerial Snare for bosses, put it on its own key, not in the macro (couga54). Slots 4 and 8 stay free, e.g. for potions.

Rules that never change

  • Overhead Slam, Rending Blow and Ruinous Blow are your core. Overhead Slam goes to 20 first, because it's your main damage. Rending Blow to 16 and then 20, Ruinous Blow to 16 (couga54, ExpCarry). It only goes to 20 at the very end, if at all.
  • Hit from the front. The passive Experienced Counterstrike gives a bonus for frontal hits, so attacking from behind loses damage. aLuckyRO calls it Gladiators' “mistake number one”.
  • Overhead Slam only works on a knocked-down enemy. Exceptions: for 10 s after Rage Burst (Stigma from 27) and a 7% chance when attacking a boss. So open elites with a knockdown: Mocking Blade or dodge + Rush Strike.
  • Use Ruinous Blow whenever it's ready. It gives +20% PvE damage for 20 s.
  • Skill points raise skills only up to 10. Beyond that: the Daevanion board (+4, so up to 14), rings (+1 each, up to 16) and Arcana cards (up to 20). Specializations: 1 slot from skill level 8, 2 from 12, a new option appears at 16 (no new slot), slot 3 from 20. An unlocked specialization has to be picked manually (aLuckyRO, Lipej).
