Aion 2 · global version · Updated:

Ranger Guide & Build (Aion 2)

Weapon: bow · Role: ranged damage dealer

Everything for the Ranger from level 1 to the endgame: what to max, how to set up your skill bar, what not to miss in the campaign, gear, your first dungeon and a plan for after 45. Collected from several guides and from players. Where sources disagree, I say so openly. Fair warning: the Ranger hits weakly at first, because it lives off Critical Hits and you have almost none at the start. It gets strong mid-game, with better gear (aLuckyRO).

12

Set your level and you will see below what to do right now. The page remembers it in this browser.

Skill points

  • Daevanion: orange Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction first, then Deadshot → Snipe → Gale Arrow → Drill Dart (Daevanion tab)
  • Suppressing Arrow: a stun for elites

Watch out / what to do

  • Most sources take the orange corner (Combat Speed) on the board first
  • Skill points still go into Snipe, Tempest Shot and Drill Dart

Next milestone: level 14

  • Deadshot: the biggest damage in the class

Where to put your next point

Enter your skill levels from the in-game skill window. The page calculates for the character level set above and remembers your entries in this browser.

Skill bar for level 12

Arrange your skills like this in the skill window. Row 0 is the row right at the bar and has the highest priority. A filler with no cooldown always goes at the top of its column (Lipej).

KeyRow 0Row 1Row 2Row 3How to use
LMB
Snipe
only one slot here. Hold it all the time: it restores mana, and from skill level 12 it cuts Deadshot's cooldown
RMB
Gale Arrow
Drill Dart
Tempest Shot
Gale line; hold it, from 22 via the macro
Q
Griffon Arrow from 37
Snare Shot
Burst Arrownew
Griffon line: Snare Shot slows, so Burst Arrow can fire. At 37 you can use Explosive Arrow instead of Griffon Arrow
E
Deadshot from 14
manual: hold to charge level 3, always under Precision
1
Marking Shot
manual: at the start of a fight and when Precision has ~3 s left
2
Explosion Trapnew
at your feet before a pack
3
Defiance from 16
breaks stuns and other effects
5
Vaizel's Authority from 22
Supporting Fire from 32
buffs; they share the same cooldown once Supporting Fire is level 15 (couga54: one key)
7
Suppressing Arrownew
stun for elites while leveling; you can drop it at 45

Change at 12: On 7 you add Suppressing Arrow.

Next change at 14: On E you add Deadshot. Don't put it in a line or the macro, because the macro doesn't charge it fully.

Arrow Scattershot stays off the bar, because it only works in the short Stagger window and most sources skip it. Slot 4 stays free.

Rules that never change

  • Deadshot, Gale Arrow, Drill Dart and Tempest Shot are your core. Plus Snipe on the left mouse button, which restores mana. Most sources agree.
  • Always fire Deadshot under Precision and always charged to level 3. First Marking Shot (gives Precision: +300 Critical Hit), then Deadshot. Don't put it in the macro, because the macro doesn't charge it fully.
  • Keep Precision up all the time. Refresh Marking Shot when it has ~3 s left, but don't spam it, because every use makes you hop.
  • Shoot from range (20 m) and don't stand in melee. Slow elites and kite them, don't let them stay on you (couga54: “Kite, don’t tank”).
  • Skill points raise skills only up to 10. Beyond that you top up with the Daevanion board (+4), rings (+2) and Arcana cards (couga54).
